This was a project to find one natural dye for each letter of the alphabet and the aim was to grow, forage or collect in the kitchen the dyestuff to be used, avoiding buying any commercial products. This was achieved in the main with only a few exceptions. The A-Z includes swatches of dyed fabrics, dyeing info, line drawings of plants as well as general information about the traditional uses of the plants.

The fabric was then hand stitched into wall hangings using traditional English Paper Piecing technique.
