Plants and Colours
Plants and Colours is a body of work which encompasses my love of natural dyeing, patchwork and embroidery. Having taken part in Jenny Dean’s natural dyeing course at Ditchling Museum of Art and Craft I nurtured dye plants in my garden and used them as the subject for my botanical stitch drawings. The plants which included dyers coreopsis, dyers chamomile, buddleia and rhubarb root, were made into dye baths to colour wool and silk from which I made hexagon patchwork and Suffolk Puffs. This is a continuing project which I hope to develop over the years to come in which I aim to make a connection between my immediate surroundings and the artwork I create.
Many of the pictures in the gallery show my working process..
