The technique of rubbing (otherwise known as frottage) has become part of my artistic language. This is used to record the surface of textiles leaving a trace – a vestige or a fragment  - as if something is disappearing or only just exists. Images are joined to form patchwork and/or are embroidered into to add depth and detail.
